Constructed between 1897 and 1902, Fairelawn Manor was commissioned for a wealthy industrialist’s daughter as a wedding present. Henry Curran gave the mansion to his daughter and son-in-law (Constance Curran Davison and William M. Davison). The house exemplifies the establishment of the Pelham neighborhood by developers Wendell & Smith. Wendell & Smith sought to provide upper class clientele an idyllic suburban environment within the city. Over its long history, the mansion served as a convent, a bed and breakfast, and a private residence. In 2022 the property was purchased by an affiliate of Commons & Commons LLP after several years of vacancy and neglect. The property is being carefully converted into law firm office space in a manner that honors the gracious and historic character of the home.
